Adam Malone

Adam Malone has a trial practice focused on helping families in cases involving brain and spinal cord injuries, burns, amputations, and wrongful death. Adam is board certified in the complex area of medical negligence by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys (ABPLA). He has been selected by peers for inclusion in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the specialties of Medical Malpractice Law and Personal Injury Litigation, and as a 2010 Georgia Super Lawyer.
Adam believes a lawyer's reputation is his most valuable asset. In describing what may set Adam apart from others, one judge observed that "some lawyers come in and pound the podium, then there are the ones who pound the books. And you can always tell who they are." Adam's opposing counsel have described him as "a real gentleman" and a "consummate trial lawyer."
Adam has been recognized for his skill in successfully resolving his cases in and out of the courtroom.
In 2008, Adam was featured as one of the top 12 lawyers in Georgia under the age of 40 by the Fulton County Daily Report. That year, the National Law Journal highlighted one of his jury verdicts as one of the Top 100 Verdicts in the nation in 2008. That case arose out of the needless amputation of a 14 year-old athlete's right leg due to careless communication between the doctor and nurses attending him and resulted in a record-setting jury verdict of $24,529,286.00. In 2009, Adam was featured by Georgia Trend magazine as one of Georgia's Best & Brightest under the age of 40.
Adam has been honored for his work in the appellate courts of Georgia. Adam was lead counsel in Atlanta Oculoplastic Surgery, P.C. v. Nestlehutt, et al., 286 Ga. 731 (2010) where the Georgia Supreme Court unanimously held a law placing a $350,000 cap on noneconomic damages in medical malpractice cases to be an unconstitutional violation of the sacred right to trial by jury.
The Georgia Trial Lawyers Association honored him and his clients with the Courageous Pursuit of Justice Award for their work and determination in that case. The Supreme Court's opinion can be found at Atlanta Oculoplastic Surgery, P.C. v. Nestlehutt, et al. Ga. S. Ct., S09A1432, March 22, 2010.
Adam also has vast experience helping victims of brain and spinal cord injury and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Traumatic Brain Injury Litigation Group of the American Association for Justice where he is privileged to help victims and families of brain injury across America.
Professional service work is necessary to remain on the cutting edge and essential for those who want to give back.
Adam serves in various leadership capacities with the State Bar of Georgia and holds office in several nationwide legal organizations devoted to upholding the high standards of lawyer competency and to protecting the right to trial by jury in civil cases. Adam is a past president of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association, past chairman of the General Practice & Trial Section of the State Bar, and past chairman of legal education for the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. Adam also serves on the Board of Governors for the American Association for Justice, the Board of Directors for his alma mater John Marshall Law School, and on the Board of Governors for the prestigious Melvin M. Belli Society, a charitable organization that promotes the study of law by funding research, conducting lectures, seminars, and publishing legal articles.
Adam is a summa cum laude graduate of John Marshall Law school, and was valedictorian of his class. Prior to joining his father in the practice of law, he clerked for the Honorable G. Alan Blackburn of the Georgia Court of Appeals and was a prosecutor in the Clayton County District Attorney's Office. Adam resides in Atlanta with his wife, Barbara, and their three children, Madeleine, Emilie and Rosser.
